Act before Halloween to give your views on Barnfield Road and Southernhay

Over 200 people joined a Campaign protest at the Barnfield Road crossing of Western Way in August 2021, to mark the tragic death of a woman on a bike. The car driver was subsequently convicted & jailed for death by dangerous driving.

After four years of waiting we have finally been listened to.

The Devon County Council consultation on options to make the ‘Barnfield Road Gateway’ to the City Centre safer and more attractive for people on foot, wheels and bike closes on 31 October.

There are good ideas to give more space and priority to people, options on a redesign of the Western Way crossing and to make better cycle paths.

People on foot, wheels and bike all have to stop to give priority to motor vehicles at Southernhay West. We propose reversing that to allow people to take priority in this special City Centre green space.

What does Exeter Cycling Campaign stand for?
A comprehensive, convenient and connected network of cycle paths for people of all ages and abilities to choose cycling as the safe, natural choice for everyday journeys.

We advocate not only for people who cycle but for people who walk, wheel and scoot.

Please don’t leave it to others ……..
We’ve seen some successes, and some reverses, over the last few years but every metre of safe cycling requires hard work and campaigning so that Officers and Councillors feel confident enough to implement schemes.
