Exeter Cycling Campaign has had a year to be proud of and lots to celebrate

Nothing we have achieved would have been possible without YOU- our brilliant supporters

OUR TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

ONE Adam Tranter, former Cycling Commissioner for the West Midlands, inspired us at our AGM

TWO speeches made at Exeter Highways Committee, speaking up for safe and easy travel for people on foot, wheels and bike

THREE the Active Travel England capability level we urged Devon County Council to aim for in our December press release, to unlock more cash for safe travel

FOUR different primary schools whose pupils will feel the benefit from the Newtown active travel scheme, approved in July

FIVE (thousand one hundred and 83), the number of illegal journeys through the Wonford Road bus gate in one month, which we revealed in our October press release

SIX public questions asked by supporters at Exeter City Council and Devon County Council meetings about air quality, school streets, Active Travel England funding and consulting children on schemes

SEVEN (hundred) miles, the distance to Glasgow from Exeter. Our Dryden Road count revealed that the bikes we recorded are removing about 1.5 miles of traffic from Exeter’s roads every working day- that’s the equivalent of a traffic jam to Glasgow each year

EIGHT (hundred) new homes at Heavitree Road former Police Station which will have access to over 500 secure bike parking spaces and e-bike charging, thanks to advice from our planning consultation team

NINE new Devon County Councillors elected, who we have been busy getting to know

TEN amazing years of contribution by our founding Chair- Mike Walton- who stood down in 2025

ELEVEN (hundred and 90) people counted in 12 hours using the brilliant new Rifford Road scheme in June, with a 50% increase in bikes after just three months of the scheme being fully open

TWELVE hours counting on Dryden Road by twelve supporters as part of our successful (so far!) campaign to Keep Dryden Road Safe

What does Exeter Cycling Campaign stand for?
A comprehensive, convenient and connected network of cycle paths for people of all ages and abilities to choose cycling as the safe, natural choice for everyday journeys.

We advocate not only for people who cycle but for people who walk, wheel and scoot.

Please don’t leave it to others ……..
We’ve seen some successes, and some reverses, over the last few years but every metre of safe cycling requires hard work and campaigning so that Officers and Councillors feel confident enough to implement schemes.
