Crowdfunder latest and Cycling UK join our action at Dryden Road
Following our hugely successful Crowdfunder and the generosity of an Exeter resident who will match fund every £ we raised, we now have access to over £10,000 to fund legal action to keep Dryden Road safe.
Thank you!
We are excited to have secured the services of Leigh Day, a legal firm who specialise in working with charities and who have a strong track record in planning, environmental and road safety law.
There is no guarantee of success and we will need lots of help. So we are delighted to have secured the support and advice of Cycling UK in our action.
Cycling UK have championed the cause of cycling for more than 140 years and have over 70,000 members.
Cycling UK’s ‘Cyclists Defence Fund’ supports significant legal cases especially those which could set important precedents for the future. The Fund has supported recent successful challenges to the removal of safe cycling infrastructure in Poole, West Sussex and elsewhere.
What next?
We are working with our legal team to prepare for publication of the Traffic Regulation Order which would remove the filter on Dryden Road.
We expect that to be approved for consultation at the Exeter Highways Committee in October.
That consultation will provide the opportunity to object on legal grounds if Dryden Road is not kept safe. We shall keep you up-to-date.
