Making a positive change

Three things you can do to improve Exeter

Determined to engage positively……

In the Cycling Campaign we are determined not to be those people who moan from the sidelines and object to any change.  Instead we are committed to engaging positively, making sensible proposals to enable active travel and participate in council consultations.

We need you therefore to do three simple things to help make our city better.

Support the bus/cycle lane changes

The Cycling Campaign supports the bus improvement plans since this helps creates a little more space on main roads, having fewer car doors to dodge when cycling and improving the way you can cycle through congested traffic.

You can see the council bus consultation here:  PLEASE SUPPORT THIS TODAY

AND….

There’s also a petition underway to support these improvements.  It’s quick to sign here.

TOP TIPS for completing the consultation quickly:

  1. click on red ‘+’ for each bus lane being consulted on

  2. click on the “Plans” to see DCC’s proposals and then the “Online Comments Form”

  3. copy any of your useful comments to use on the other bus route responses

Boniface Trail to Crediton – consultation on route options

When the long term cycling and walking plan was agreed (the Exeter LCWIP) it indicated the intention to deliver the ‘Boniface Trail’ linking Exeter to Crediton via Cowley Bridge.

Devon County Council (DCC) are now consulting on two possible routes for this trail.  Take a look, and let DCC know your thoughts on their proposals.  See here.

This route is important since it could connect up Duryard and Thomas Hall school to the cycling network.

An opportunity to shape Devon’s transport plan

Do you have a vision of what transport should look like in Devon over the next decade?

There’s a chance to help shape Devon County Council’s (DCC) transport plan which DCC will shortly be consulting on.  We’re forming a team to collect ideas and produce a response.

Being part of a team working together is a great way of learning from others and ensuring active travel is core to the county’s transport plan for the next decade.  It can also be fun, really!
