The Exeter Cycling Campaign has responded to Devon County Council’s proposal to improve the environment along Union Road for the benefit of cyclists and pedestrians. The Campaign are broadly supportive of the proposals although several areas that need improvement or further consideration have been identified.

Nurses Way: A Key Route for Key Workers

Sweetbrier Lane Roundabout
In April’s Newsletter you can read about several accidents involving young cyclists at the roundabout joining Whipton Road and Sweetbrier Lane. The Cycling Campaign organised a peaceful demonstration seeking changes to better protect vulnerable road users at this dangerous location. This was attended by representatives of almost all the major political parties as well as by the local MP, Ben Bradshaw. Also covered is information about the Police’s operation SNAP which can be used to submit reports of incidents captured on cycle or dashboard cameras.

Making Our Streets COVID Safe
The Exeter Cycling Campaign welcomes Devon County Council’s call for local suggestions for how our streets can be made covid-safe. We recognise the government imperative to act quickly and to use pop-up infrastructure to create space for people to walk and cycle safely.
